I recently signed up for a really cool service from the United States Post Office. Yes, can you believe it? The old school POST OFFICE. It’s called Informed Delivery. It is a free service that will send you an email or let you log in to your USPS account and view images of that day’s letter-sized mail.

Expecting a check in the mail or a special birthday card from a loved one? You can see if it’s in that day’s delivery before your carrier even puts it in your box! If you see it in your images, but it doesn’t arrive in your mail box, you can report the missing mail right on the USPS website. I’ve had problems at times with mail not showing up so I am happy to see the preview.
Guess where I heard about it? From my really hip 70-something year old retired neighbors! They read about it in the newspaper – yes, the printed newspaper. I thought that was a great intersection of old tech and new tech.

To get started, click here. If you don’t have one already, you will need to create an account on the USPS website. Currently Informed Delivery is not available for PO Boxes. It took a few days for my mail images to start showing up so give it a few days once you sign up.
What do you think, will you sign up?
