Last week, we sold a car. We’d had it 15 years and it was the family hauler. It was in need of some TLC before selling – I had a couple of stains in the carpet I wanted to work on but I didn’t want to pay to get it detailed; I just wanted to give it a good cleaning at home. I came across reviews of a product called LA’s Totally Awesome All Purpose Concentrated Cleaner. It is sold at dollar stores for a buck so I figured it was worth a try! It did a good job on the carpet stains and I also used it to spot clean most of the inside – cloth seats, dashboard, and interior of the doors including textured finishes. The bottle has a chart telling you the proportions for diluting depending on the use. See all these uses?
Today I used it on my current vehicle which had a stain on the driver’s floor mat – looked like grease possibly.
It’s a pretty small stain so I didn’t want to mix up much of the cleaner. After consulting the chart I decided to use a 2 to 1 ratio for spot cleaning rugs. I went with 1 tablespoon of the cleaner and 2 tablespoons of water. See my cute little measure? It’s like a shot glass, I think. I don’t have any shot glasses to compare it to, though, so take that for what it’s worth.
Then I took it out to the garage and grabbed the brush I bought when I got the cleaner. It is really a dish brush but it was the only one I could find at the dollar store that day when I bought the cleaner. I dipped the brush in my cleaning solution then gently scrubbed the spot. Dipped one more time and scrubbed a little more, then got a clean cloth and dipped it in fresh water to get up the cleaner. It’s important to get up all the soap because it attracts dirt and we don’t want that!
Next I got a dry, clean cloth and blotted as much moisture as I could. To finish drying, I put the blazing hot sun to good use and set it in the driveway. Took about 2 seconds! Okay, I don’t know how long it took but while it was drying I cleaned up my supplies and changed out the laundry so I left it out for maybe 10 minutes. You want it to be very dry before you close it up in the car.
Back in the car:
I would say it really is Totally Awesome, especially for only $1.00. As with any product, you should do a test in a hidden area before using. This is not a paid promotion, these people don’t even know I exist, y’all!
Happy Monday,
Susan
Results are looking good! The thing with mats is that even without any stains they still show their age with time and should be replaced completely every once in a while. Cheers, Sally.
my cleaning lady told me about this i will go to $tree to get it and try will let you know how it did the job
Can awesome be use on a 2014 Hyundai Tucson roof water to clean grease stains
That’s a 2014 roof liner to get grease stains out
I am not sure it will work, but I would do a test in a small, hidden area to make sure it doesn’t cause any discoloring or damage. I would probably not use the brush in my pictures on the roof liner. It is a pretty stiff brush and could damage the fabric. I’d either use a *very* soft brush, or just a cloth. Test for sure.
